Birthright Hawke’s Bay provides professional, confidential social services and early childhood education that uphold the wellbeing, care, and protection of tamariki and rangatahi. Our kaupapa is grounded in strengthening families, building resilience, and enhancing lives.
We walk alongside whānau with aroha, integrity, and a deep belief in their potential.

 

Social Work & Counselling Services

We provide strength-based, holistic support to tamariki, rangatahi, and their whānau to:

  • Strengthen relationships and build resilience
  • Navigate life’s challenges
  • Access the tools, resources, and support needed to thrive
  • Improve long-term wellbeing and outcomes

Our team includes registered Social Workers, Counsellors, Financial Mentors, and a Supervised Contact Co-ordinator and team. Support is provided in homes, schools, and across the community, with a focus on safety, connection, and empowerment.

 

Whānau Support Services
We offer a range of evidence-informed and practical supports, including:

  • Individual and group parenting programmes
  • Parenting Through Separation (PTS)
  • Counselling, (for individuals, tamariki, or whole whānau)
  • Financial mentoring
  • SWiS – Social Workers in Schools
  • Supervised Contract
  • Referrals and navigation support for wider services
  • Practical support to build life skills, confidence, and independence

Most services are free and available throughout the wider Hawke’s Bay region.

 

Early Childhood Education
We provide nurturing, high-quality early learning environments that support tamariki and
their whānau to thrive:

  • Tom Parker House – Licensed Early Childhood Centre for pēpi aged 0–2
  • Swinburn House – Licensed Early Childhood Centre for tamariki aged 2–5
  • Bill Hercock Centre – Opening late 2025

Our centres are inclusive, culturally responsive, and focused on the holistic development of tamariki through strong, trusting relationships with the team, whānau, and the wider community.
